FAQ I am asked a lot of questions from time to time and do my best to answer them, here are a few of the most frequent ones and please do feel free to ask more! I will add to this page over time Are corsets uncomfortable to wear? A properly fitting corset won't hurt, it will fit your body snugly from the ribs up and around your hips; the only part that gets squeezed tight should be your waist from below your ribs to the top of the hip bones. Squashing your flesh over the boney areas can cause bruises so remember to get a corset that fits you and to lace it and tighten it correctly, often plumper ladies tend to find corsets more comfortable as they have more padding. You will become used to the corset within minutes and even tighten it up more. Even with the most comfortable of corsets the best feeling in the world is taking it off at the end of the night! Can you sit or bend down in a corset? You will notice your posture change and you go from 'sitting' to 'elegantly perching' on a seat instead. You cannot slump or slouch in a corset, to pick up something you must bend at the knee and only a corset that is too long for you would cause you to be unable to sit down. Wow, they cost a lot! Why is that? Most high street clothes are made in poorer countries where workers are paid pennies. These corsets are hand made in England by a fully trained and experienced couturier who specialises in the art of corset making. The finest materials are used, spiral steel bones, quality busks, etc... beware something that claims to be a corset but is on sale very cheap. Read the what is a corset? page to find out what goes into one of these unique garments and how to spot a fake. What is corset training? Sometimes people wish to dramatically change their body shape and wear a corset daily. Over time the persons waistline will adjust and shift more and more to accommodate the corset, allowing tighter lacing and a more dramatic effect. The persons waist itself will actually alter enough over time so that even when the corset is taken off their waist will still be smaller than it was to begin with. Corset training should be done slowly over time starting with only 2 hour sessions. There are specialist websites for further information. |
